Cycle the lochs from Coast to Coast across Scotland. Follow the Caledonian Canal, pass Neptune's Staircase via Fort Augustus to Inverness.
Stretching for 73 miles the Great Glen Cycle Way takes you from Coast to Coast as you follow the lochs from Fort William to Inverness, Scotland's north-most city and the "capital of the highlands". The route is on a wide variety of trails, from quiet single track roads, through flat canal towpaths, to single track in woodland and includes some serious ascents and descents.

Follow the Great Glen Way markers along the River Ness and Caledonian Canal staying on the towpath until you reach Gairlochy, changing onto singletrack. Turning inland climb steadily above the loch before free wheeling into Invergarry.
After a heart breakfast, tackle your first steep hill on the climb behind Invergarry. Take a single track through the forest bringing you down to Aberchalder. Rest your legs along the towpath to Fort Augustus. Spotting Loch Ness through the tress descend into Invermoriston before taking the challenging forest path up before zooming down into Drumnadrochit where you can learn more about the Loch Ness Monster!
The first part of day is mainly through forestry after climbing sharply out of Drumnadrochit. Most of the cycling today is on minor roads as you ride deeper into the hills and fields that surround the Great Glen. The route takes you through beautiful countryside with lovely scenery but is more remote before arriving into Inverness and the "capital of the highlands".

From Glasgow or Edinburgh catch the 'CityLink' bus to Fort William and return from Inverness.
Glasglow is the closest major International Airport to Fort William. From the airport you catch the airport bus to Glasgow Buchanan Street Bus Station from where you take the 'Citylink' bus to Fort William.
